A Slice of Heaven: Sunset and Pizza at Trevaunance Cove
This summer, our family discovered a gem in Cornwall – Fistral Beach in Newquay. It quickly became our favorite beach in the area, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, exciting activities, and delicious food. Let me take you through our unforgettable day at this stunning coastal paradise.
Getting There: The Scenic Route
We parked about a mile away at Pentire Headland. While parking was busy as expected and a bit pricey, the walk to the beach was a treat in itself. We strolled along the coastline, taking in breathtaking views of small beaches and watching thrill-seekers jump from rocks into the crystal-clear sea.
First Impressions: A Bustling Beach Paradise
As Fistral Beach came into view, we saw a lively scene of surfers riding waves and sunbathers soaking up the rays. Don’t let the initial busyness deter you – we easily found a quiet spot near the rocky areas to set up our base for the day.
Dipping Our Toes In: Safety First
The sea at Fistral is stunning – clean and clear, inviting us for a swim. However, it’s important to note the presence of rip tides. The vigilant lifeguards did an excellent job ensuring everyone’s safety, using whistles and signs to warn beachgoers when conditions became dangerous.
Family Fun in the Sun
After our seaside adventure, we returned to our spot for a well-deserved lunch. The afternoon was filled with classic beach activities:
- Building sandcastles
- Digging holes in the soft sand
- Exploring fascinating rock pools
Nature enthusiasts will love the abundance of mussels clinging to the rocks – a forager’s delight!
A Culinary Finale: Rick Stein’s Restaurant
We capped off our perfect day with dinner at Rick Stein’s restaurant. The menu offered something for everyone:
- Ana and Alexander devoured delicious fish and chips
- I savored a flavorful curry
- Little Lucas enjoyed nibbling on fish and vegetables

Raindrops couldn’t stop us from exploring the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan! 🌳🌺
Despite the wet weather, our family had an awesome time wandering through the lush forests, spotting the Mud Maid sculpture, and crossing the wobbly bridge in the tranquil Japanese garden.
Alexander loved the Jungle Giants adventure trail and the fun-filled playground. And we all enjoyed the stunning scenery, curious wildlife, and surprises like the swinging chair and giant listening cone.
Though we got soaked towards the end of our visit , the visit was an unforgettable experience. Can’t wait to go back and see more of this enchanting place!

Raindrops couldn’t stop us from exploring the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan! 🌳🌺
Despite the wet weather, our family had an awesome time wandering through the lush forests, spotting the Mud Maid sculpture, and crossing the wobbly bridge in the tranquil Japanese garden.

🍕🌅 Stumbled upon a slice of paradise at Trevaunance Cove! After a day at the Eden Project, we hit the jackpot with this sunset pit stop in St Agnes.
The real star? The Cornish Pizza Company! 🤤 Hands down, best pizza we`ve had in the UK. Local ingredients, organic flour – it`s pizza perfection!
Didn`t get much beach time (tide was coming in), but those few moments of sand, sea, and seriously good food were pure magic. Already planning our return trip!

✨ This tidal island is pure magic - we crossed the ancient causeway at low tide (pro tip: baby carrier > stroller on those pebbles!), climbed up to the castle for breathtaking views, and explored the charming village below.

A great night a couple of weeks ago it was unforgettable! We witnessed an incredible fireworks display that lit up the Cornish coast. The atmosphere was electric - live music, bustling bars, and a sky ablaze with color.
